Do these QR codes expire or track scans?
No. They contain your data directly (they are “static” codes), so they never expire, aren't tied to any service and don't track anyone.
Which error correction level should I use?
Medium (the default) suits most uses. Choose Quartile or High if the code will be printed somewhere it may get scratched or dirty — but higher levels make the code denser.
How do I make sure the code scans?
Keep a strong contrast (dark on light works best), leave the empty margin around the code, and print it large enough — at least about 2 cm (0.8 in) wide.
